# Problem 1-14: Current of A Voltage Source

Find the current passing through the voltage source:
a)

b)

Solution
a) The voltage source is in series with the current source. Since by definition a current source keeps the current passing through itself constant and the voltage source is in series with the current source, it should have the same current $10 A$.

b) The same scenario is happening here and the voltage source has the same current as the current source $5A$.

1. why in b) 3A current source does not affect in any sense?

1. It has effect on the current of the resistor (=5A+3A). The current of the voltage source is the current of the current source. By definition, a current source keeps the current of the line constant. Any component which is in series with a current source has the same current passing through itself.

What is the effect of the voltage source on the load in b) ???

Dear Sir, I have a doubt ..
1. What would be the maximum current that a voltage source can deliver?
Say for eg. what would be the max. current of 230v source
2. Also how that is decided (i mean on what factor)

Also like this i have some basic questions in electrical engg.. where i cud i post them if u have time & willigness to reply?

Thanks,
Pasupathy K.R

in the given circuit is the both the sources are supplying power ? if so what happend if the terminals of voltage source is reversed

Hello sir need help in a similar problem

given circuit

__________ 2A 2 ohm
|Given |-------o ----------------- ( --> )----------^^^^^--------|
| Network | +V ____ 5V
| | - --
|_________ | ------ o--------------------------------------------------|

what would be value of V

If we argue that the current due to current source is constant 2A then i get 9V as the answer ...is this correct.

1. Sorry but the circuit is not clear. What if you take a picture, upload it some where and put link here?
